about

As part of my concept album, this song is to be sequenced between "My Living Room" and the first version of "Doctor, Doctor". The lyrics were written almost a year ago, but I had trouble coming up with the music until now. The lyrics deal with my feeling of disconnection, also expressed in my songs "Wake Up!" and "Untitled (No Place Like Home)". To expand on that, I am a VCAL student whilst others in my field (studying music) are doing VCE, so I feel isolated because I am not doing the same course as them.

lyrics

So I'm on the other side of that wall
That is too high for me to climb
And if I tried to go over it
Surely I'd stumble and fall

I feel isolated but there's no reason to be
I think you're superior but that's just me
You tell me that we're all the same
But each one of us plays our own game

Oftentimes I put you on a pedestal of greatness
You treat me all the same, no more and no less

Some friends I love and some foes I hate
And some I don't wish to associate
Sometimes you don't know what I try to say
Sometimes I feel like I want it all my way

As I wrote in one of my songs
It turns out I'm not too wrong
The people in my life come and go
I'm divided from everyone I know

There's a wise man that I've always known
He teaches everyone else, while I'm on my own
What a shame 'the man' doesn't mentor me
But to my own path I choose to be free

No, I'm not alone in this place
I just have to work at my own pace
Where I'll go, I don't know
Gotta take it easy; take it slow

Pardon me if I seem somewhat rude
or if something's wrong with my attitude
Though jealousy is something I try to hide
We're all the same, deep down inside
