This is a composition written for National Solo Album Month 2019.
The piano, percussion and organ were recorded via MIDI. The bass and guitar were recorded on my Steinberg audio interface.
Throughout, the piece uses speech recordings converted to MIDI and played via different virtual instruments (electric guitar, synth, etc.)
At the very beginning, you can hear the original audio recordings in the left channel, and the MIDI conversions in the right.
The drum beat through the majority of the piece was originally a drum loop from Jim Dooley, but I re-recorded it via MIDI drums (on my keyboard) and took out the original recording. In other words, I recreated the drum loop by ear.
Thus, I'm not sure if this is strictly a solo work since it incorporates sound recordings from others.
I am a musician from Melbourne, Victoria. I sing and play keyboards as well as guitar and bass. I like to express my thoughts through the songs I write.
Effervescent pop without a drop of irony, perfectly geared for fans of the more dance-oriented side of indie music and Tears for Fears. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 2, 2023
