about

As part of my concept album, this track is sequenced between "Feelinglikegraduallyrunningoutofpreciousvaluabletime" and "You Won't Keep Me Down".
The track clocks in at almost 15 minutes, being one of my longest tracks up to this point. This is another of my experimental pieces, consisting entirely of (unauthorised) snippets of music and conversations from the titular program.
The "damn" parts were captured from a complete stranger at one of my McDonald's soundwalks; the sample is even incorporated into the rhythm of the Bo Diddley beat at one point.
The musical/lyrical sections quote from several songs, including some of my own ("I Never Wanna Die", "Bridges Burned" and "Something's Guilty"), as well as "Peace and Love" by John Trubee and Ramsey Kearney and "Constantinople" by the Residents. The track also includes a mashup of sorts around the 3:20-4:30 mark (the "Something's Guilty" vocal segment in the left channel, while another segment from the jam session plays in the right channel).
From 10:20 to 11:30 of the track, there is a recording of my friend from the computer club The Lab, Bryce, screaming "This is Sparta!" slowed down by 95% and panned from left to right channels. This is also audible in my YouTube video "Some stupid scary slowed-down noise", which in turn is from my video "Grand Theft Auto III - Killing People for Money pt. 2". (My YouTube channel is Edwardus)

I recite the lyrics from the earlier track "Zigzag Spambots".

The laughing that constantly appears throughout the piece comes from the sound recording person Adam.
In the middle section, his laughter is played normally in the centre channel, but in the right channel each laugh was slowed down and played according to the 5/4 beat (the individual laughs were actually imported as audio files into a custom MIDI instrument on Mixcraft 8).

The voice sample of "The Sound of Silence" comes from a Facebook message sent to me by a wanker who told me to sell my guitar while I was busking.
As a matter of fact, the entirety of his Facebook voice messages sent to me (at least the ones that I recorded) are played throughout, albeit the recordings are played simultaneously at various pitches to make it harder to recognise.
The entire unedited recording is played in the left channel at a very low volume from 11:40 to 14:41. It is sped up (both tempo and pitch-wise) and condensed from 9:30 to 3:00 (use a program like Audacity to remove the centre of the mix, and change the speed to hear it as was originally recorded).

lyrics

[0:00-0:33]
[pre-music talking]
Jarrod: "D major. That's a good key for a song. And you're gonna start on the seventh degree. You're gonna start with a C# diminished chord, and then work your way from there."
Edward: "But what about actual topic? Themes?"
Skye: "Yeah I don't care what you say Jarrod, but what about actual songwriting ideas?"
Jarrod: "Um, last song needs to be about...the chaotic nature of the UpBeat music program."

[0:34-1:06]
Adam: [laughing] "Yeah!"
Jarrod: "He'll make you do it. Don't tell him that information. He'll make you do it."
[scream]
[laugh]
Connor: "I think someone just died."
Skye: "There's our loop! So, ok..."
Skye: "...we're idiots, and people from the outside are like, "Are they OK? What are they doing?" But if we experiment with the weird sounds and put them together, they'll make something magical."
Henry: "Fffffuuuuuu..."

[1:05, from recitation of 'Zigzag Spambots']
Edward: "And at this moment, Robarate knew there was no hope. There is no god. There is no joy. And the only thing Robarate craved was the sweet release of death. Why must people like this flood the internet with shit? Why must people be so effing..."
1:35
Jarrod: "...fucking..."
Edward; "...stupid, that they thought this was...a...good idea? 3LAMESTUDIOS may be one of the worst, if not the worst, Five Nights at Freddy's related channel. This isn't art. It is psychological warfare designed by the Nazis to drive anyone to insanity. Save yourself, don't watch their videos. We are done here."

Jogan: "Treated like trash" - repeat ad infinitum

We can make it if we try
I want to effing (Jarrod: "...fucking...") die

I'm standing here solo
And everyones so horny, trying to blow
I feel disconnected

Throw down your axe and swords
Vonie#5175, add me on Discord :^)
How long?

How can I see through this disguise?
After we SMASSSHHHH I’m cutting our ties
Why do I F (Henry: "Fuck") THE POLICE than me?
That's not the way it's PINGAS to be
F! (Henry: "Fuck") I came so hard I can’t pee : ^(

No need to hide under a disguise
Expose your naked body and let’s screw (Henry: "Fuck") tonight
I don't need to see that look in your eyes.
I want to f
(Henry: "Fuck")
you deep down inside.

Remember the days when we were young?
The days where I used to always touch your C-star-N-T
Jarrod: "Cunt"

[2:09-3:20]
Unknown: Oh damn.
Damn!
DAYUM! [repeat ad infinitum]

[3:20-4:26]
[from "Something's Guilty"]
Robbing and destroying without remorse
Seems that your life was very coarse
Gone out with a bang but your spirit remains
Through this book of which it contains

Wanker: "Hello darkness my old friend...I've come to talk with you again...yep, thats the song you need to do. 'Sound of Silence' by Art...and Garfunkel. Hm!"

Haunting me with segments from your life
Cutting through the air like a knife
Now I know something's guilty
Is it you or is it me?
Woo!

[continuing from recitation of "Zigzag Spambots"]
Before the day's end
Make sure you bend
The clouds give way to an empty blue sky
Only to rain, semen into my eye

[4:32]
Adam: [incessant laughing] "Yeah."
[loud beep tone]
Matthew Shadgett: "Fuck."
Edward: "What is that?"
Brittany: "That hurt!"
Edward: [laughing]
Matthew Shadgett: "I need to get rid of that ASAP, it's a virus."
Edward: "We could use that in a song!"
Bill: "...download a piece of software.."
Edward: "What is that thing?"
Matthew Shadgett: "...came straight up..."
Edward: "What is that?"

Justen: "People are essentially buying ad space that they use to...scare people into buying unsafe software, like 'Your computer is infected with a virus! You need to download our software to fuckin' fix it', and then that software that they make you download is in the virus. If you don't actually touch anything on those pages you're cool, you can close down the browser and it's fine, just yeah don't go back to that page."
Bill said "But it is risky. It's risky."

So here we are, not far from where we began
Now please make sure to swallow my man

[5:40-6:54]
Joseph: "I was just sucking this dude's dick...wait, what?"

[6:01-6:48]
[from John Trubee and Ramsey Kearney's "Peace and Love/Blind Man's Penis"]
I got high last night on LSD
My mind was beautiful and I was free
Warts loved my nipples because they are pink
Vomit on me, baby
Yeah Yeah Yeah

A blind man's penis is erect because he's blind!
It's erect because he's blind!
A blind man's penis is erect because he's blind!
Cameron: "Right, thank you Edward!"
It's erect because he's blind.

[6:49-6:53]
Jogan: Man I'm so sweet that I'll be givin' ya diabeetus!
Take a pause and listen to all my metaphors...

Matthew Shadgett: "Have you heard that? Oh shit! I broke it!"

[6:54-7:42]
Edward: "No more Butthole Surfers."
Bill: "Possibly not."
Edward: "And that's just their actual name. If you look at their earlier names, it's 'Fred Astaire's A-hole', 'The Right to Eat Fred Astaire's A-hole', and 'The Inalienable Right to Eat Fred Astaire's Asshole'."
Bill: "Inalienable right."
Bill: "Do you know what 'inalienable' means?"
Edward: "Uh, not really."
Bill: "Inalienable means it cannot be taken away. Like if you're inalienable right to inalienable stuff and they are real and true and they cannot be taken from you. Like your right to eat his arsehole."

Justen: "That is simultaneously the worst and the best thing I've ever heard!"
Matthew Shadgett: "What?"
Justen said "I love it so much. The guitar sound on that silly keyboard."

[7:43-7:48]
Jonathan: We are normal and we want our freedom.
We are normal and we want our freedom.

[7:49-8:47]
[from The Residents' 'Constantinople']
Here I come, Constantinople
Here I come, Constantinople
I am coming Constantinople
Here I come!

Trent: "I'm just killing time, really."
Edward: "Yeah. Oh by the way, there is a music program that I go to not far from around here. It's at the Visy Cares Hub.”
Trent: “Right.”
Edward: “And it runs on Saturdays from 2 to 4 pm.”
Trent: “OK.”
Edward: “If you're interested maybe you could come there sometime?”
Trent: “Oh yeah, definitely.”
Edward: “I mean, it's near the end of its life now but it's gonna start up next year.”
Trent: “OK, right. So it sort of finishes at the end of the year?”
Edward: “Uh, yeah. Two more weeks after this.”
Trent: “OK. Yeah, I'd really love to. That'd be interesting, another way to meet people. Yeah.”

Wanker: "Or...this so-called Saturday program thing, you sit there with a bunch of other guys, what, play guitar, play piano, whatever. Um...What you need to do is leave your goddamn comfort zone to start with, you stay in your comfort zone you're gonna fuckin' achieve nothing simple as that. Exactly what you guys do right? You sit around and just jam on a Saturday. What you need to do, is get all the stuff together you need to do it with, get your guitar fixed, get some lemon oil, and just fuckin' play. Simple."

Jarrod: "Yeah, yeah, to come, so it's 12 to 25, anyone in that age group."
Justen: "12 to 25, understand that."
Jarrod: "Anyone over needs a working with children check. Um...yeah."
Justen: "Cool."
Jarrod: "Just so, we don't get rapists."
(laughing)
Justen: "Don't want that man."
Jarrod: "...to put it gently!"

"Ho, ho, ho" - (from Matthew Shadgett's deleted video "Matt Shadgett - The Christmas Song ft. Chill")
Joseph: "on it, is studio dates. So, I will listen to it, I promise. I'm sorry."
Matthew Shadgett: "Yeah" (from the video "Matt Shadgett - Nan's Death 1991")
("Nan's Death 1991" continues playing")
Edward: "Turn that off."

[8:48-10:20]
Da, da, da
Edward: "Did you AutoTune your vocals?"
Jarrod: "Of course I did. How else am I gonna sound like Drake if I don't?"
Edward: "Haha, I couldn't believe that was you until you told Bill!"
Jarrod: "Wanna drop us some rhymes, Edward? Freestyle."
Edward: "Uh, no thanks."

[10:20-11:13]
"THIS...IS...SPARTA!"

Edward: "Uh, it kinda reminds me of the Grateful Dead on quaaludes."
Cameron: "Oh no."
Jarrod: "That was a weird one wasn't it Edward?"
Edward "Yeah. Or maybe Phish on quaaludes!"
Cameron: "No..."

[11:14-11:41]
[from "I Never Wanna Die"]
My life becomes null and void
I don't care if I'm all but destroyed!

Sim: "Free form jazz!" (repeated)
Jogan: "Treated like trash"
Justen: "I thought it was funny."

Edward: "Uh, I'm not a Justin Bieber fan either."
Jarrod: "Haha, yeah true."

[11:42-14:41]
Joseph: Guitar solo.
[instrumental section from a rehearsal of "Bridges Burned"]

[14:42-14:53]
Edward: "Okay, that's the end of my vocal take."
Henry: "Fuck! Woo! That was so cool man! That was so cool!"
