about

A track I wrote on February Album Writing Month. I recorded most of the instruments using virtual MIDI instruments on Mixcraft 6, with the exception of my SX bass during the bass guitar solo.
The song is a 10-minute jam on one chord, which is D minor.

lyrics

On the day when I opened that door
The quest to uncover your life began
If I knew what an idiot like me would find
I think I would've turned and ran

A darkly lit room with dust sweeping the floors
Makes me wonder why I came back for more
Worn shelves with dirty unused documents
And a diary of yours on the table

I opened the old book and tried not to retreat
Clear words infected me with their disease
Painting a picture of a perverse traveller
Full of catching, unnerving vernacular

Robbing and destroying without remorse
Seems that your life was very coarse
Gone out with a bang but your spirit remains
Through this book of which it contains

Haunting me with segments from your life
Cutting through the air like a knife
Now I know something's guilty
Is it you or is it me?
