about

This is another part of my concept album about communication, which I started in 2019 and am reworking for my uni studio project.

This was originally a lyrics-only piece posted by @msculli1 in 2018. I asked him if I could use these lyrics, and he accepted.

The instrumental track comes from an unused version of my 2018 song "Waiting for an Answer (Left in the Dark)". My friend Mazzy sings lead and backing vocals. I had to pitch the recording down from C to A to fit her range.

I also play a harmonium part using MIDI on Soundtrap.

Mark's notes:
I'd forgotten about this lyric, but Edward has revived it. Both, Bill and Edward, have done a great job musically and Mazzy does a fine job with the vocal phrasing on my scattergun wordplay.

lyrics

You say nothings perfect
Well I think you are
You say they take you for granted
Well I see the value
In everything you do

You say no one listens
Well I can hear you
You say no one cares
Well I do care about you
You say no ones there
Well I would be
If you just noticed me

I'm here if you want me
If you see me waving frantically
Hoping that you'll notice me
Hoping that you'll see the real me

When your not here
Impressive wordplay bounces round my head
When your not here
Witty anecdotes reveal themselves
When your not here
I'm funny witty droll and erudite
If you could see me
If you could see the real me

I'm here if you want me
If you see me waving frantically
Hoping that you'll notice me
Hoping that you'll see the real me

When your not here
Impressive wordplay bounces round my head
When your not here
Witty anecdotes reveal themselves
When your not here
I'm funny witty droll and erudite
If you could see me
If you could see the real me
