This is the closing song on my concept album about communication, called Talk to Me. It's self-explanatory, really.
The song was initially done for February Album Writing Month 2019, but I'm reworking it for my major project this year.
This was recorded on Soundtrap. (I recorded the bulk of this track in 2020 for my semester 1 solo performance, but the others' contributions were not recorded until August-September 2021, which is when the major project took place.)
To add a bit of cross-reference, near the beginning and end I quoted the chorus melody from "Talk to Me" (the album's opening track) on the harmonium. This brings the album full circle.
The message at the beginning of the recording is a verbatim quote from a FAWMer (cblack) on my forum topic "How do you get more comments on your songs?"
Being a Beatles fan, I attempted to write a song similar to "Hey Jude". In fact, the final couplet in the second verse is taken from "The End".
lyrics
[Spoken]
"Seriously, it seems you get back half of what you put in. The trick is to want to put in regardless of what you get back."
Make the most of your talents
Don't bury them in the ground
Love everybody, love yourself
Moving at the speed of sound
Shine on like the sun and the stars
It doesn't matter who you are
Peace is a circle of flying doves
If you give love, you'll get love
We shall sing together in harmony
And watch life flow by gracefully
The love you take
Equals the love you make
Shine on like the sun and the stars
It doesn't matter who you are
Peace is a circle of flying doves
If you give love, you'll get love
Make the most of your talents
Don't bury them in the ground
Love everybody, love yourself
Moving at the speed of sound
Shine on like the sun and the stars
It doesn't matter who you are
Peace is a circle of flying doves
If you give love, you'll get love
If you give love, you'll get love
