about

As part of my concept album, this track is to be sequenced between "Feeling UpBeat" and "Domestic Disturbance" (neither of which are written yet).
The sound effect of a train passing was downloaded from freesound.org. The metronome is deliberately kept in the recording.
My acoustic guitar is tuned in Eb tuning. To mimic the sound of a 12-string guitar, I recorded two takes of the guitar track; one take without a capo and the other on the seventh fret.

lyrics

I missed the train
And I feel really pissed off
Why did they decide to leave without me?
Didn't they know I was in a hurry?

Walking quickly up the stairs
Apparently it wasn't quick enough
Leave behind the 5:19 evening train
Replaced with the 5:41 to my disdain

The dark clouds are growing darker
I should have seen the time maker
Was it their fault they left me here?
Or mine, for their call I couldn't hear?

The minutes feel like long hours
Ticking away and not in my power
I'm sitting here doing nothing
Angry at the world, silently cussing

I caught the next train
I'll be home, just a bit more late
I should learn not to waste time
And take for granted what's mine
