about

This song took me a year to write; I started writing in 2016 and finally finished early 2017. The song is a rumination of sorts, continuing on from "The Love That Never Was" but allowing for a more optimistic mood.

lyrics

As time slips through my fingers
The painful memory of you lingers
We’re two strangers, strewn across the land
Burying our souls in the sand

On the horizon, the dawn breaks
It’s been years, but my heart still aches
No use in crying or telling lies
Oh, it’s time to say goodbye.

Rain falls outside my window
When I think of you, I can't let go
And as the raging river dies down
I cannot make a sound…

I remember days when we used to laugh
But all I have left is a photograph
While the years roll by, I'm sitting here
Trying to hold back the tears

I've gone down this road before
These times of darkness will be no more
Someday I'll let go of it all
And not have my back to the wall

On the horizon, the dawn breaks
It’s been years, but my heart still aches
No use in crying or telling lies
Oh, it’s time to say goodbye.
