As part of my concept album, this song directly segues from "Last Day of July", and uses the same chord progression (Pachelbel's Canon) but a half-step higher.
As with the preceding track, the vocals are auto-tuned because I was still ill at the time.

It's the first day of August
And I feel as ill as the day before
Yes, life isn't exactly flawless
This setback I can't ignore

It's too late for my resignation
I'll soldier on with the preparation
For the production, every minute counts
There is too much for what amounts

So I'm staying home again today
Rest is the order of the day
Going to the doctor for some advice
How I feel is a throw of the dice

I thought I saw an old schoolfriend of mine
On my way to catch the train
Soon he disappeared into the crowd

Sooner or later I'll get back to school
To catch up with the omnipresent rules
