about

This song was written about a guy I met while I was busking at the Footscray train station. He was a bass player; he didn't busk himself but he knew people who did.
He was easygoing at first glance, but as our conversations went on he appeared demanding, condescending and disrespectful. He kept telling me to go busking, despite my insistence that I was too busy with FAWM and my TAFE music course, and that I would continue busking in March. At this time of writing we no longer have contact, which I see as a good thing.
The song actually contains an unauthorised voice sample of him saying the word "yeah", from one of his voice clips he sent me; it is looped throughout. I have two Risset drums to serve as percussion; one is set to sound like a bass drum and the other to sound like a tambourine.

The bass and guitar parts were recorded using an audio interface.
The vocals were recorded on my Android phone, which explains why they sound "distorted".

lyrics

(Yeah...yeah...yeah...yeah...) - repeated for the duration of the song

You watched me play guitar on the street
And you told me I did it all wrong
You said I "didn't keep the beat"
And you couldn't recognise the song

The next day, we got in contact again
In the beginning, you acted as a "friend"
As your messages grew more voluminous
Simultaneously they became gratuitous

You're someone whom I'd rather not know
You place your ego on a steeple
I'd much rather not associate myself
With disposable fake people.

Slowly you showed your real side
Ever so narcissistic and snide
Doing nothing but spewing nonsense
Demanding yet another performance

You're someone whom I'd rather not know
You place your ego on a steeple
I'd much rather not associate myself
With disposable fake people.

You think you're giving "important advice"?
That doesn't pull the wool over my eyes
You told me to "quit; sell my guitar"
Who the hell do you think you are?

And finally it all came to a head
Communication blocked, nothing was said
It's better if you leave me alone
After all, you're like a rolling stone

You're someone whom I'd rather not know
You place your ego on a steeple
I'd much rather not associate myself
With disposable fake people.

I don't want to waste my time
On disposable fake people.
Don't fool me, you're just another one
Of those disposable fake people.
